I hope this post is okay...I know I've seen posts like this before. I need some help. I want to see a game this season...but I have no one to go with! Does anyone want to join me on Aug 30, Sept 1 or Sept 7? The first two are vs. the A's and the last one is against the O's. It's $35 a ticket, section 431 B, Row 8, Seats 11 & 12. I can get tickets for more then one game even! A bit about me: 25 years old, single with a lack of baseball loving friends (seriously). And most of my friends that would go to a game happen to like the other NY team. Got a degree in Sports, Entertainment & Event Mngmt, going back for a degree in nursing. I volunteered at 2008 Fan Fest and would have done last years if I wasn't laid off in Feb and unable to afford the trip to St. Louis :(. I'm a lot of fun to hang out with (if you don't believe me ask i_am_an_angel!), I've been a member here for years, and I am running a fantasy baseball leauge as well as 2 other teams. Anythi8ng else you want to know, just ask! So will someone please join me at 1, 2 or even all 3 games? Leave me a comment with your e-mail or e-mail me at ruaalien2@livejournal.com just let me know who you are in your subject!

So, Kerri and I are seeing Puscifer tomorrow night. At -THE FUCKING APOLLO- which I seriously can't even process, it's like, too. Fucking. Hilarious.
Anyway.
We've been like anxious about this show cause it's going to be SUUUUCH a mindfuck, and we keep trying not to think about it. I think it finally just snuck up on us. I am fucking like, so excited, I can't even
So if you've never listened to Puscifer (why the fuck not) you'll know that they're pretty special. This is not going to be any ordinary show. So any ordinary outfit is inappropriate.
I've been thinking about it all week and I finally think I came up with what I'm gonna wear. I might wear a different skirt that's a couple inches longer though just cause like, it's chilly and I'm gonna be drunk in the subway, no need for my ass to be hanging out. HAHA. Whoops.
So here's me channeling Maynard while I tried the outfit on. Fuck yeah!!!!

( I basically built the whole ensemble around the hat because I thought it was vital to wear a cowboy hat to a Puscifer show. )

| The weather in Tampa has been pretty awful from all accounts and the tarp has been down for a large part of the day. Game is still scheduled to go ahead at the moment - though prepare for a delay, reduced innings or even for it to be called.
Today's bench roster includes: Austin Romine, Jesus Montero, Colin Curtis, Mark Melancon and Dave Robertson.
El Capitan scratched from the line-up as he has 'flu. (Suggestion for a gift for Derek's 36th birthday - a Snuggie an immune system.)
ETA @ 1952 - GAME HAS BEEN CANCELLED. =(

Absolutely agree.
1. The government shouldn't have the right to tell you what you're allowed to do in your own home, especially when you're not hurting anyone. This can even go for actual hard drugs, though use of those drugs is so extreme there's no reason to be encouraging them, in my opinion. That's an entire different rant though, for some other time. If you're an adult you should have the right to decide to smoke a joint after work, just like you have the right to have a beer if you want to. No one else should be allowed to make that decision for you.
2. It has miraculous medicinal purposes. The only reason doctors don't encourage it in the mainstream is because they don't approve of smoking it - because smoking ANYTHING is bad for your lungs. However, it can be ingested as food and it can be smoked with a vaporizer with little to no harm. Decriminalizing it would be fantastic for people using it for medicinal purposes - how fucked up is it to bust PATIENTS who need it? Especially in states where it's legalized medically by state law - the federal government still has the right to come in and random and bust PATIENTS. Not cool. I will also remind everyone that it's NATURAL. Na-tur-al. Straight from the earth. HELLO!!!!!!!!!!! I'd much rather take natural drugs than synthetic shit made in a lab.
3. Having it illegal not only endangers otherwise innocent people who want the freedom to use it in their own homes, but it encourages illegal trafficking and more extreme crime. It would put a lot of nasty drug dealers out of business and make the neighborhood a safer place. It would also reduce a lot of gang activity.
4. Prohibition has failed to stop the use or production of marijuana. People still want it. It's marketable. It would help the economy.
5. Making it legal would lower its use among minors. Think of how much easier it is for teens to get drugs than it is for them to get alcohol - where they would need to have a fake I.D. or an older friend to help. If buying marijuana was a legal business where you'd need to get carded, it would make it harder for kids to buy from, say, a friend on the street. Plus the simple rebellion aspect would be lower - for a lot of idiot kids who go through a "phase" it wouldn't feel as edgy and fun to try if it's legal. It would help kill marijuana's role as a gateway drug if you keep it in clean, legal stores instead of with seedy drug dealers who also want to throw in some other shit.
6. It would simplify production of hemp, which can be used for bio-fuels, among other things. It's difficult to cultivate because of marijuana being illegal. This would make things a lot easier.
7. Most things you hear about the dangers of marijuana are LIES. It's PROPAGANDA. Do RESEARCH. Read about it. Most of the bullshit you hear about ~how bad it is~ is leftover nonsense from YEARS ago, before the science existed to even know the truth. If you've ever smoked, you know this. Unfortunately, teachers, cops, and the government still tell these lies, and incorrectly educate people. Seriously, there are some really interesting documentaries about this (In Pot We Trust or Super High Me are my personal favorites) and plenty of literature. It's very easy for a lot of people who don't smoke to look down on it and become extremely judgmental, but I'd be willing to bet that 90% of the time they're grossly misinformed. I'm urging everyone to get educated on this, because if anything I'm saying comes as a surprise to you, there's a ton of information out there that you need to know. You'll be amazed by the lies you've been told.
8. Marijuana is not lethal. It's safer than alcohol. It is impossible to overdose on marijuana. The amount you would need in your system to kill you isn't even possible to ingest at once. You'd be too fucking high to even move before you could keep going and kill yourself.
9. It would improve the justice system - think of how much money is spent on arresting 750,000 people a year for marijuana possession. How much of that money could go towards catching REAL criminals, like rapists, pedophiles, terrorists, etc.
10. People who advocate marijuana know all this, and we'll continue to fight against the injustices. We know better and it's unlikely that we're going to shut up about it anytime soon.
I went on YouTube to see if I could find this amazing segment from In Pot We Trust about a widowed single mother with cerebral palsy, where she's interviewed before and after smoking. You'd be shocked at how clear and coherent she is once she's smoked, and she explains how it's the only way for her to be a mom. I was gonna find it but I see that the whole movie is on there in parts, so if you have some time to waste you should check it out.
These are the people truly affected by marijuana's prohibition. This woman should have to deal with seedy drug dealers to get medical help? She should be arrested because it's the only drug she's found to help her get through the day? Her kids should lose their remaining parent?
Nice.
